The Indian women’s team will be raring to take on host England in a three-match One Day International (ODI) series starting Wednesday, with the home ODI World Cup later this year in mind.

The Women in Blue enter this series after winning the five-match T20I series 3-2 — their first-ever bilateral series win against England in the format.

The last time India Women faced England Women in an ODI series was back in 2022 — also a three-match series played on English soil.

In the first match at Hove in Brighton, India took a 1-0 lead after chasing down 228 in just 44.2 overs. Now vice-captain Smriti Mandhana starred with a 99-ball 91, while Yastika Bhatia and Harmanpreet Kaur also notched up half-centuries.

India sealed the series with a commanding 88-run win in the second match in Canterbury. The Harmanpreet-led side posted a massive total of 333 in 50 overs, with the skipper remaining unbeaten on a pristine 143 off 111 balls. The visiting bowlers, led by Renuka Singh’s four-wicket haul, bundled out the host for just 245 in 44.2 overs.

The visitor completed the whitewash with a narrow 16-run win in the third ODI at Lord’s. It was a low-scoring affair, with India bowled out for 169 in 45.4 overs — Kate Cross doing the damage with four wickets. However, Renuka delivered another four-wicket haul, supported by Jhulan Goswami and Rajeshwari Gayakwad, who picked up two wickets each, to restrict England to 153 in 43.3 overs.
