Vaibhav Suryavanshi scores second-fastest fifty by an Indian in U-19 ODIs
Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored the second-fastest fifty by an Indian batter in an Under-19 ODI, during his side’s third match against England on Wednesday.
Suryavanshi got to his fifty off his 20th ball, with a six against England’s James Minto. The left-handed batter was eventually dismissed for 86, having scored six fours and nine sixes.
Only Rishabh Pant has scored a faster fifty for India in the format in Under-19 cricket. The wicket-keeper batter raced to an 18-ball fifty against Nepal in 2016.
Suryavanshi’s blazing knock came in the second innings, with India facing a tall task of chasing a 269-run target in just 40 overs to claim the series lead.
The 14-year-old had started the series in stirring fashion, scoring a 19-ball 48 in the first match and then tallied 45 off 34 balls in the second.
