Techie injured after tree branch falls on him, second such incident in 10 days

A 25-year-old software engineer was critically injured after a roadside tree branch fell on him near K. R. Circle close to PWD Office on Nrupatunga Road on Monday. This is the second such case in the last 10 days in the city.
Mayur Kumar, a resident of Nagavara, was on his way to work on a scooter when the branch fell on him. He sustained head injuries and fell unconscious. A traffic policeman on duty rushed to his help and shifted him to St. Martha’s Hospital, where the doctors after a CT scan, advised surgery and the youth is presently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Anuradha H. M., mother of the victim, in her complaint to the Halasuru Gate police on Monday, stated that Mayur was critically wounded and the doctor said that the cost of the treatment was estimated to be ₹15 lakh.
She alleged that the BBMP forest cell officials’ negligence and failure to maintain roadside trees led to the accident. Based on her complaint, the police registered an FIR against BBMP officials charging them under Section 125(b) (endangering life or personal safety), of BNS, 2023 for further investigation.
It may be recalled that on June 15, Sundar Akshay Shivaram, a 29-year-old HR executive, had suffered severe injuries to his skull and brain after a tree branch fell on him while he was riding his scooter in Srinivasa Nagar and succumbed to injuries on June 19. Based on the complaint filed by his parents, the Hanumanth Nagar police registered an FIR against the Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) and the Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) of the BBMP forest cell charging them under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of BNS, 2023.
