AIADMK and BJP functionaries, headed by MLA and Deputy Leader of the Opposition in State Assembly R.B. Udhayakumar, staged a protest at Tiruppuvanam in Sivaganga district on Wednesday (July 2, 2025), condemning the DMK government for not having control over the Police Department “which caused the death of N. Ajith Kumar”, who was allegedly beaten to death in police custody at Tiruppuvanam police station.

‘Despite knowing’
While speaking to the media, Mr. Udhayakumar asked how Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, despite knowing that the district Superintendent of Police was responsible for the killing, did not place him under suspension. While Mr. Stalin demanded that the previous AIADMK government be held accountable for the custodial deaths of a trader and his son at Sathankulam in Thoothukudi district, why could not he accept now that it was his government’s carelessness’ which had caused the death of the youth, he questioned.
Earlier Mr. Udhayakumar visited Ajith Kumar’s house and consoled the family members.
