Second-half of Benfica vs Auckland FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match resumes after two-hour delay

The second half of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 match between Benfica and Auckland City finally resumed after a break of almost two hours, following an initial delay due to adverse weather conditions.
Benfica was leading 1-0 at half-time. Former Argentina international Angel Di Maria put the Portuguese side ahead just before the break via a penalty.
The is the second day in a row when a match at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States has been interrupted due to adverse weather.
The group A match between Palmeiras and Al Ahly was suspended in the 66th minute at the MetLife Stadium on Thursday because of an expected storm.
Earlier in the tournament, the start of the Group F match in Orlando between South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Ulsan of South Korea was delayed by 65 minutes because of the threat of lightning.
The Pachuca vs RB Salzburg Group H was also halted due to lightning.
