Premier League Transfer News: Arsenal signs Madueke from Chelsea

Arsenal has signed winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea in a deal worth a reported £48 million ($65 million) on Friday.

“We’re delighted to announce that England international Noni Madueke has joined us on a long-term contract,” said Arsenal in an official announcement.

The 23-year-old forward made 92 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, scoring 20 goals and providing nine assists. He featured in five of Chelsea’s seven Club World Cup matches in the US, but did not play in its 3-0 final win over Champions League winner Paris St Germain on Sunday.

He started his youth career at Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur before he moved to the Netherlands, joining PSV Eindhoven in 2018.

Madueke will wear the No. 20 shirt.

“Dear Chelsea Football Club, I want to thank you for the last 3 or so years… To my teammates thank you for everything, I leave with only love and admiration for you guys,” Madueke wrote in an Instagram post.

“To (Chelsea manager) Enzo Maresca, it was a privilege to play under you, thank you for trying to better me as a player and as a person. Lastly thank you to every single Chelsea fan. Thank you for the love, the praise and also the criticism, I appreciate it all. I leave here with nothing but fond memories.”
