Police arrest 10 member gang selling ganja in Rayadurgam district

Anantapur police have arrested a 10-member gang illegally transporting ganja from Karnataka and selling the same in Rayadurgam of the district.
Police kept a vigil on sale and consumption of ganja as part of the drive to curb the menace of ganja in the district. Rayadurgam police conducted vehicle checking and searches in open places near Kanekal Railway Bridge and nabbed the 10 persons selling ganja on Monday (July 7, 2025) evening.
Police said the peddlers hail from various parts of the district and formed a gang to transport ganja from the neighboring State. They were purchasing the ganja from Sadhus near Ballary railway station and bus stand at ₹25,000 per kilo and transporting the same to Anantapur in trains.
They are making small packets of ganja and selling them at ₹800 each. Police recovered 1.709 grams of ganja from the gang.
