Padma Sasidhar is new director for A.P. Public Health and Family Welfare

Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav on June 27 approved the proposal for the appointment of Padma Sasidhar as the Director of the Public Health and Family Welfare.

According to an official release from the department, Dr. Sasidhar had previously worked as the Regional Director, Public Health, in Rajamahendravaram. She will be replacing K. Padmavathi, who had hitherto been the Director.

Dr. Sasidhar’s appointment is part of the overhaul of the health department, during which more than 7,000 healthcare and supporting staff were transferred. The Minister also approved the transfers of 33 more healthcare staff to ensure proper delivery medical services to the people, according to the release.

Following the recent transfers that were completed on June 19, a few additional changes are under way in the department. Taking into consideration the requests from the District Collectors of Anantapur, Bapatla and Vizianagaram, the Minister, according to the release, has stalled the transfers of six doctors and approved their continuation in their previous posts.

Other changes

In Anantapur district, against the requirement of 23 doctors at the 100-bed Rayadurgam Area Hospital, only six are working. Of these, three were recently transferred. But on finding that no one has expressed willingness to work in these posts, the three have been permitted to continue their services at the hospital.

Two doctors who have been working in Chirala Area Hospital for more than five years have been transferred, but no one has come forward to work in their respective posts, so they are being continued. Similar changes have been made in Chirala Area Hospital in Prakasam district and Salur Area Hospital in Vizianagaram district, too, as per the release.

Meanwhile, M. Haimavati, working at the Visakhapatnam Government Hospital for Mental Care, has been appointed as the Anakapalle District Medical and Health Officer. K. Arjun Rao, Joint Director in the Office of the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare, has been transferred as the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) in the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.
