Nurses protest against vacancies – The Hindu

The Village Health Nurses staged a demonstration here on Tuesday to highlight their demands, including filling of vacancies instead of outsourcing the work.

The protesters, led by district president Pon. Santha, said the outsourcing of the services of village health nurses should be stopped immediately. Instead, the 4,000-odd vacancies should be filled on a permanent basis and ensure the proper vaccination of the rural public.

The protesters demanded restoration of old pension scheme.

After the demonstration in front of the District Health Office at Maappillaiyoorani, they submitted a memorandum to District Health Officer.
