Man kills daughter for wanting to marry against family’s wishes in Cuddalore

A 52-year-old man was arrested on Friday (June 27, 2025) on charges of killing his daughter at T. Madapuram near Chidambaram because she wanted to marry a man against the wishes of her family.

The police said the accused Arjunan lived with his wife and two children at T. Madapuram. Arjunan’s daughter Abitha, 27, worked as a part-time teacher at a private school in Kattumannarkovil. She was in a relationship with Murugan, 28, of Veeranatham near Kattumannarkovil.

Arjunan was against their relationship. On Friday, an argument broke out between the father and daughter. Arjunan slit his daughter’s throat, and she died on the spot. A case has been registered.
