Lonato World Cup: Ganemat off to good start in skeet


Ganemat Sekhon had a good start, scoring 48 out of 50 in skeet on the opening day of the Shotgun World Cup in Lonato, Italy.

Ganemat had rounds of 23 and 25 that put her in ninth place on Sunday in a field of 98 shooters. It was the second-best score in the women’s event, as six shooters shared the lead with 49.

Maheshwari Chauhan (46), Raiza Dhillon (45) found themselves in the 42nd and 49th place.

In the more competitive men’s skeet, featuring 176 shooters, Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan shot 24 and 25, while World University champion Bhavtegh Singh Gill shot 23 and 25. Asian Games silver medallist Anantjeet Singh Naruka had a first round of 24.

The third and fourth rounds will be shot on Monday, and the last round on Tuesday, followed by the finals for the top six.
