Lando Norris wins F1 Austrian Grand Prix 2025, closes gap to Oscar Piastri; Verstappen crashes out

Lando Norris claimed victory ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri at the F1 Austrian Grand Prix, which took place at the Red Bull Ring in Styria on Sunday.
The McLaren duo battled it out at the front for the majority of the race, but the Briton, who started from pole position, kept his cool to take his seventh career win and cut the gap to leader Piastri.
Charles Leclerc started from second but was passed by the faster McLaren of Piastri early in the race. He settled for third, securing another podium for Ferrari this season, while his partner Lewis Hamilton finished fourth.
Reigning world champion Max Verstappen, who won a record five times at the track, crashed out in the opening lap of the race after starting in seventh place.
Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, who began the race from ninth on the grid, attempted an ambitious move into Turn 3 but locked his rear tyre, eventually running into the Red Bull and ending both drivers’ outings.
Williams was also dealt a huge blow after both its contenders, Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon, retired from the race — while the former was out even before racing began, the latter drove back into the pits for the team to investigate an issue.
