IND U-19 vs ENG U-19: England wins fifth Youth ODI by seven wickets, India clinches series 3-2


Opener Ben Dawkins and one down Ben Mayes hit fifties to help England Under-19 beat India Under-19 in the fifth and final Youth ODI at New Road in Worcester on Monday. India though won the series 3-2.

Chasing 211, Dawkins (66) and Mayes (82 not out) played with freedom while Thomas Rew hit an unbeaten 37-ball 49 to finish the match with seven wickets in hand and over 18 overs left.

For India, Naman Pushpak and Deepesh Devendran were amongst the wickets, but England never let the chase go out of control and finished it in 31.1 overs

Opting to bat, India lost captain Ayush Mhatre for one while Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored a 52-ball century in the previous outing, managed 33 off 42 balls. RS Ambrish top scored with an unbeaten 66.

Each English bowler picked at least one wicket with AM French and Ralphie Albert claiming two apiece as the hosts restricted India to 210 for nine in the allotted 50 overs.

The teams will now switch to red ball to play two Youth Tests starting July 12 at Beckenham before ending the tour at the County Ground in Chelmsford.
