ENG vs IND: Stokes protests controversial DRS call by Jaiswal

Ben Stokes protested Yashasvi Jaiswal taking a DRS after being adjudged out during the second Test between England and India at Birmingham on Friday.

The incident happened in the eighth over when Jaiswal was given LBW off Josh Tongue. The 23-year-old batter then discussed with his partner KL Rahul before signaling to take a review.

However, Stokes spotted that the 15-second timer went off before Jaiswal made the ‘T’ and went to the umpires for them to not allow to go ahead with the review process.

The umpires discussed – Rahul, too, intervened -, and decided to go ahead with the DRS while Stokes walked back to the huddle shaking his head. The decision followed loud boos by the crowd at Edgbaston.

However, Jaiswal had to walk back eventually after the third umpire confirmed there were three reds and he was out.

He scored 28 off 22 balls and also became the joint-fastest Indian to score 2000 Test runs.
