ENG vs IND: Jamie Smith registers highest score by an England wicketkeeper in Tests
Jamie Smith registered the highest score by an England wicketkeeper during the second Test against India at Birmingham on Friday.
Smith scored an unbeaten 184 and went past Alec Stewart’s record of 173 against New Zealand in 1997.
He walked into bat with his team reeling at 84 for five but his counter-attacking knock kept England in the contest. He put up a 303-run stand with Harry Brook for the sixth wicket.
Smith also notched up the joint third-fastest century by an England batter in 80 balls, tying Brook for the record.
