RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat on Friday (July 18, 2025) underscored the importance of women’s empowerment in national progress, asserting that women must be liberated from regressive customs and traditions that hinder their growth.

Speaking at a programme organised by the non-profit organisation Udyogwardhini in Solapur, Maharashtra, Mr. Bhagwat said that women form the most vital part of society and possess unique qualities that not only shape the present but also nurture future generations.

“A man works till his death. A woman, too, works tirelessly, but even beyond that, she influences the generations that follow. Children grow and mature under the love and care of a woman,” he said.

Describing women’s empowerment as fundamental to a nation’s development, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief said, “God has given women some additional qualities that men do not possess, while also endowing them with all the capabilities granted to men. This is why women are capable of doing anything that men can do.”

Mr. Bhagwat stressed that it is misguided for men to believe they are responsible for uplifting women. “There is no need for such ego. Men should simply empower women and remove the barriers of outdated traditions. When a woman uplifts herself, she uplifts the entire society,” he said.

He also praised the efforts of Udyogwardhini in promoting entrepreneurship and skill development among women, calling it a model for social transformation.

The event was attended by several local leaders, women entrepreneurs, and social workers who have collaborated with Udyogwardhini over the years.
