The trailer of filmmaker Ron Howard’s upcoming survival thriller drama, Eden, was released by the makers on Wednesday (June 25). Featuring a star-studded cast, including Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Brühl, and Sydney Sweeney, the film is set to release in theatres on August 22.

In the trailer, the lead characters, a group of European settlers who travel to the Ecuadorian island of Floreana in the early 20th century. There, as they figure out ways to make a living, they find a dark truth about themselves — that they must fight each other to survive.

Eden unravels the shocking true story of a group of disillusioned outsiders who abandon civilisation, settling on a remote, uninhabited island only to discover that the greatest threat isn’t the brutal climate or deadly wildlife, but each other. As tensions spiral and desperation takes hold, a twisted power struggle unfolds, leading to betrayal, violence, and the deaths of half the colony,” reads the logline of the film.

Written by Noah Pink, Eden tells a darkly comic story of survival, inspired by two conflicting accounts of a real-life event. The film’s cast also features Felix Kammerer, Toby Wallace, and Richard Roxburgh.

Eden is produced by Howard, Brian Grazer, Karen Lunder, Ford, William M. Connor and Patrick Newall. Miguel Palos, Zach Garrett, Craig McMahon, Pink, Mathias Herndl, Namit Malhotra, David Taghioff, Masha Magonova and Matt Murphie serve as the executive producers.
