Actor Deepika Padukone has become the first Indian to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced her inclusion in the Motion Pictures category for the Class of 2026, placing her alongside prominent international names from this year such as Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci, and Demi Moore.

Padukone’s selection marks a significant milestone, not only in her career but for Indian cinema as a whole. The announcement was made during a livestream event that celebrated the new inductees.

With this recognition, Padukone joins a distinguished group of global entertainers who have left a mark on the film industry. Her inclusion is especially notable, as she becomes the first Indian performer to be granted this honour in the Walk of Fame’s long-standing history.

Padukone has previously been acknowledged for her influence beyond film. She was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2018 and received the TIME100 Impact Award. She also made headlines in 2022 by unveiling the FIFA World Cup trophy at the final match in Qatar, which was another first for an Indian celebrity.

Her global appeal has also led to partnerships with luxury brands Louis Vuitton and Cartier, marking her as the first Indian ambassador for both fashion houses.

Padukone remains a major figure with a successful record at the Indian box office. She is currently working on several high-profile projects, including an untitled film directed by Atlee, co-starring Allu Arjun. She is also expected to appear in King alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan, although that project has not yet been officially confirmed.
