CFL 2025-26: East Bengal plays out draw with Suruchi Sangha; Mohammedan Sporting squanders two-goal lead

East Bengal dropped points in the Calcutta Football League 2025-26 after playing out a 1-1 draw with Suruchi Sangha at the Naihati Bankimanjali Stadium on Friday.
Vanlalpeka Guite scored the Red and Gold Brigade’s only goal in the 45+3rd minute.
Both teams headed into Friday’s contest with convincing wins in their opening fixtures. While goals from Sabbar Sourav, S. Haokip, S.J. Kom and Bablu Oran guided Suruchi to a 4-0 win against Kalighat MS at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium on Monday, Manotos Maji, Sayan Banerjee, Guite, Tanmay Das, Jesin TK (2) and Suman Dey scored for EBFC against Measurers Club.
Mohammedan Sporting, another Indian Super League outfit from Kolkata, kicked off its CFL campaign with a 2-2 draw with Calcutta Police Club at the Barrackpore Stadium, squandering a two-goal lead.
Lalthankima opened the scoring with a clinical finish, giving the Black Panthers an early advantage. The momentum continued as Lalngaihsaka doubled the lead.
Despite the strong start, Calcutta Police Club mounted a comeback in the second half, levelling the score and ensuring the spoils are shared.
