Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy has urged the State government to grant land to the family of Shivalinga who died in the stampede that occurred near Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru recently.
He was talking to the media in Honagera village in Yadgir district on Thursday after visiting the family members of the deceased, expressing his condolences to them.
Mr. Narayanaswamy said that Shivalinga’s family migrated to Bengaluru for a livelihood, having no permanent source of income in the village. They are still in shock after the incident in which their young son lost his valuable life. The State government should grant land, a house and a job for a member of the family to lead a decent life, he said.
The State government should also take immediate steps to sanction a graveyard for the village, as the family had to face difficulties to cremate Shivalinga’s mortal remains since there was no graveyard in the village, he said.
He spoke to Yadgir Deputy Commissioner B. Susheela from the village and asked her to take initiatives immediately.
President of the BJP district unit Basavarajappa Vibhutihalli, Mahesh Reddy Mudnal, Parashuram Kurkundi and others were present.
