Kamal Haasan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Payal Kapadia among 534 artists invited by The Academy

Indian film personalities Kamal Haasan, Ayushmann Khurrana and filmmaker Payal Kapadia are among the 534 artists and executives to be invited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) this year. Kamal Haasan and Ayushmannn Khurrana were invited in the Actors’ Branch while Payal Kapadia got the invitation from the Writers’ Branch.

“Through their commitment to filmmaking and to the greater movie industry, these exceptionally talented individuals have made indelible contributions to our global filmmaking community,”Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said. “We are thrilled to invite this esteemed class of artists, technologists, and professionals to join the Academy.”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited distinguished artists from across the world for their contributions to motion pictures and cinema. Kamal Haasan, Ayushmann Khurrana and Payal Kapadia join the likes of powerhouse actors and artists like Gillian Anderson, Ariana Grande, Kamal Haasan, Mikey Madison, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, to name a few.

“Except for Associates, candidates must be sponsored by two Academy members from the branch or category to which the candidate seeks admission. In addition, Academy Award nominees are automatically considered for membership in the year in which they are nominated and do not require sponsors,” AMPAS said.
