Disfigured skull found in vacant plot at Kumbalanghi

A partially disfigured skull was found while a shrubby vacant plot at Kumbalanghi was being cleaned up on Saturday (June 21, 2025) afternoon.

The police reportedly searched the entire plot but could not find any other human remains. The skull, with the jaw allegedly missing, was seized by the Kumbalanghi police outpost. It will be sent to the police surgeon for DNA profiling and gender identification. However, no case has been registered yet.

“We do not yet know details such as whether the skull is male or female, or how old it is. We will have to wait for the results of the scientific examination. Prima facie, we have not found anything suspicious,” the police said.

The plot is in the immediate vicinity of a local church cemetery, which was cleaned up a couple of months ago. The police said it is surrounded by residential areas and easily accessible making it an unlikely location for any nefarious activity.
