Bio-Mining of garbage at Anantapur dump yard to begin on July 18

The process of bio-mining garbage to resolve dumping yard issues in the city will commence on Friday (July 18).

Anantapur Urban MLA Daggupati Venkateswara Prasad will launch the process at the dump yard in Gooty road. People of Rajiv Colony panchayat and other nearby localities and also those who were commuting on the national highway have been facing severe problems due to the dump yard.

Before the elections, Mr. Prasad had promised to bring a permanent solution to the problem and accordingly, the State government had decided to convert the garbage into fertiliser. A private firm has been given the contract for ₹12,217 crore and the machinery required for the process has been moved to the dump yard. Nearly 1,68,285 metric tonnes of fertiliser would be generated.

The MLA would also lay foundation for laying of drainage lines and roads at a cost of ₹1.70 crore in different wards of the Anantapur city.
