IND vs ENG, 2nd Test: India records first Test win at Birmingham, beats England by 336 runs

India defeated England by 336 runs on Sunday in the second Test to record its first win at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

The side had played eight games at the venue and lost seven. It’s first match in Birmingham was in 1967, which it lost by 132 runs. The only draw came in 1986 when Kapil Dev was captain.

India also became the first Asian side to breach the venue. India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka had failed to win in Birmingham in 18 combined attempts before this game.

The win margin was also India’s fourth-best across all Tests, and the best in an overseas match.

Captain Shubman Gill was also awarded the player of the match for scoring 430 runs in the Test, including a 269 runs in the first innings – the highest individual score by an India captain.
