Harvinder Singh wins recurve men’s gold at Asian para archery championships
Paralympic gold medallist Harvinder Singh secured the recurve men’s open individual gold medal at the Asian para archery championships in Beijing on Sunday.
Harvinder Singh defeated Hanreuchai Netsiri of Thailand 7-1 (28-24, 30-28, 26-26, 30-28) in the final to take the top honour.
Jyoti outclassed Teodora Audi Ayudia Ferelly of Indonesia 144-133 for the compound women’s open bronze.
However, Rakesh Kumar was beaten 149-143 by China’s Zhnag Yicheng in the compound men’s open bronze medal match.
Last year at the Paris Paralympics, Harvinder had won India’s first-ever gold medal in archery at the quadrennial Games after defeating Poland’s Lukasz Ciszek 6-0 (28-24, 28-27, 29-25) in the men’s individual recurve open final.
