A 12-day training programme for 120 undergraduate students and NCC cadets on Disaster Response under the Aapda Mitra Scheme began at the BC Study Circle in Karimnagar on Thursday.

The training programme, being organised by the Revenue (Disaster Management) Department, was inaugurated by Collector Pamela Satpathy, a press release said.

It aims to impart requisite skills among the community volunteers to save lives during natural disasters and other emergency situations.

The training will be imparted in a collaborative mode involving various government departments, including the State Disaster Response and Fire Services, Medical and Health departments.

In the first phase, employees working in villages and towns, as well as volunteers from various walks of life, were trained.
