India vs England, 3rd Youth ODI: Vaibhav Suryavanshi sets up IND U-19’s win over ENG U-19
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s fiery knock set up India Under-19’s four-wicket win over England Under-19 in the third Youth ODI, reduced to a 40-over game, in Northampton on Wednesday.
Suryavanshi scored a blazing 31-ball 86 to trigger the chase as India hunted down England’s steep 269-target with more than five overs to spare.
On the way, the 14-year-old recorded the second-fastest fifty (off 20 balls) by an Indian in Youth ODIs. Only Rishabh Pant has scored a faster fifty for India in Under-19 ODIs. The wicket-keeper batter raced to an 18-ball fifty against Nepal in 2016.
Suryavanshi’s efforts were backed up by lower-order batters Kanishk Chouhan and RS Ambrish, who put together 75 runs for the seventh wicket to marshal the Indian side to series-lead-securing win.
England’s first-innings effort was led by fifties from opener BJ Dawkins and skipper Thomas Rew. Chouhan was the pick of the bowlers for India, with a three-wicket haul.
