Canada Open 2025: Kidambi beats compatriot Priyanshu in first round; Ayush Shetty in action now

Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth advanced to the Round of 16 of the Canada Open 2025 after beating compatriot Priyanshu Rajawat in the first round on Wednesday at the Markham Pan Am Centre.

Seventh seed Priyanshu started well to win the first game but his senior in Kidambi clinched the second and third games to win the match 18-21, 21-19, 21-14 in 53 minutes.

Kidambi will face Chinese Taipei’s Wang Po-Wei in the next round.

Currently, this year’s US Open champion Ayush Shetty, fifth seed in the tournament, is in action against compatriot Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian.
