Farmer crushed to death as tractor he was driving overturns

A 47-year-old farmer was killed after the tractor he was driving overturned near his farmland at Modikuppam village near Gudiyatham town in Vellore on Wednesday.

Police said the deceased has been identified as K. Sudhakar. He was living with his wife and two children in the village for many years. Initial inquiry revealed that Sudhakar had been constructing a small motor pump room in his farmland for the past few days.

On Wednesday, Sudhakar was driving his tractor with a load of hollow blocks being transported for construction purposes. As he was driving the vehicle into the farmland, the tractor overturned due to the weight of bricks. He got crushed under the vehicle and died on the spot.

Immediately, workers and other residents removed the vehicle and retrieved the body of Sudhakar. Based on the alert, Gudiyatham Taluk police inspected the spot and registered a case. A probe is underway.
